OCEAN CITY This year's
Fager's Island Surf Swap and
Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP)
event will be held Sunday, June 2,
on 60th Street and the bay.
OC SUP and Fitness, partner-
ing with Fager's Island Restaurant
and the Maryland Coastal Bays
Program (MCBP), is hosting an
all-day family event that includes
paddle board races for SUP own-
ers looking for a challenge, surf
swap for watersport enthusiasts
who want to trade or sell their
equipment, surf shops selling
items at discounted prices, surf
board demonstration, artists, chil-
dren's games and activities pro-
vided by the Coastal Stewards, a
casual kids SUP relay and teams
of two fun SUP relay for novice
paddle boarders (paddle boards
provided). Food and drink specials
will be accompanied by live enter-
tainment.
This event offers something for
everyone.
9:30 -10:30 a.m.: Packet pick-
up and race day registration for
2.5 Rec Race and 5-mile Elite
SUP race
10:45 a.m.: Meeting for racers
11 a.m.: Start for 2.5 Rec Race
& 5-mile Elite SUP Race
Noon-12:45 p.m.: Registration
for Kids SUP Race and Two
Teams of 2 Fun relay SUP Race;
Surf Swap begins
12:30 p.m.: Around Sound Mu-
sic Kid Band and Coastal Stew-
ards games and activities in the
Gazebo
1 p.m.: Kids SUP Race
1:30 p.m.: Willey Surfboards
Demo -"Glassing a Board"
2 p.m.: Colossal Fossil Band
begins
2:45 p.m.: Local radio station
DJ's SUP Race
3 p.m.: Teams of 2 Fun SUP
Race, teams will be placed in
heats with a maximum of six
teams per heat.
There will be an award ceremo-
ny after the Fun SUP race.
This year's event sponsors in-
clude Atlantic Shoals, Around
Sound Music, Best Aquatic Cen-
ter, K-Coast Surf Shop, Stand Up
Paddle Annapolis, NAYAD, Willey
Custom Surf Boards and Under
Armour and DJ Romo, who gra-
ciously emcees annually for this
event.
