BERLIN Marie Gilmore, chair-
man of the Memorial Day Com-
mittee for the Worcester County
Veterans Memorial, has announc-
ed plans continue to be finalized
for the annual ceremony on Mon-
day, May 27, at the Memorial site
on Route 589 near the South Gate
of Ocean Pines.
Music, pageantry and patriot-
ism will be the themes for the day.
Keynote speaker for the event
will be Vietnam-era veteran Mich-
ael Beatty, a local disc jockey and
entertainment personality who
served with the 6217th Combat
Support Group in Taiwan.
Airman Beatty hosted a radio
program on the American Forces
Network Taiwan.
During the event, patriotic mu-
sic will be provided by Randy Lee
Ashcraft, Dick Jacobs, The Del-
marva Chorus and Ocean City
Pipes and Drums.
The ceremony will begin at 11
a.m. The public is invited to attend
and advised to please bring lawn
chairs. Parking is available on
site.
In case of inclement weather,
the event will be held at the Com-
munity Church at Ocean Pines on
Race Track Road.
