GOLD
Thank you: Joan Joachims
This glass design comes from my memories of tin
milk can lanterns in my childhood. There are two
layers of glass in the main body. The inner layer
is transparent, so using a candle in this lantern
replicates the traditional appearance of Chinese
lantern lighting.
Joan Joachims is a local artist known for her cast
jewelry pieces. Her work has a baroque feel and
a narrative quality often reminiscent of fairy tales.
This piece is representative of the fish that often
bring messages or perform magic tricks in old folk
tales; so this is a magical little fish.
