Main Street Sweets in Berlin is taking donations for Diakonia, and each donation earns a raffle ticket to win a three-pound chocolate turkey that is valued at $50. The chocolate turkey was produced by Bessinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier out of St. Louis. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20. “It is for a good cause. It is for a wonderful cause. They are in need,” Main Street Sweets owner Connie Mayers said of Diakonia. “I just think they are special because they reach out to the people, and our community serves them. It is a wonderful thing for them to have a better Thanksgiving than expected, something a little extra-special for them.” Main Street Sweets has fundraised for Diakonia and many other causes in the past. “This is something special we decided to do for Diakonia because it’s Thanksgiving, and it’s the time for giving,” Mayers said. “The response has been wonderful. We have risen over $100 so far. Every little bit helps … I am so excited about it.” For more than 30 years, Diakonia The drawing for this three-pound chocolate turkey at Main Street Sweets will take place on Nov. 20.
