Ocean Petroleum recently made a $12,500 donation to the Assateague Coastal Trust (ACT). Accepting the check from Steve Ladd, chief operating officer of Ocean Petroleum, are Kathy Phillips, ACT Executive Director and Coastkeeper, and Steve Farr, ACT Development Director. Phillips said, “This generous donation from Ocean Petroleum and BP’s Fueling Communities Fund will help to fund ACT’s 2014 Recreational Water Quality Monitoring Program, a project conducted by the Assateague Coastkeeper, that monitors the safe swimming levels of bacteria in the water at our favorite swimming beaches and swimming holes. Weekly results during the summer months are posted on The Swim Guide, a website and smartphone app that lets people see that their local swimming beaches are safe for swimming."
