The Ocean City Beach Patrol re-
sponded to the report of a deceased
porpoise just off 110th Street last
Saturday. The patrol had been track-
ing the whereabouts of the marine
mammal throughout the day. Beach
Patrol officers brought the porpoise
to shore and it was turned over first
to the Public Works Department and
later the National Aquarium's Marine
Animal Rescue Program. A necropsy
is being performed on the porpoise,
but the early indications appear to
suggest the mammal was the victim
of a propeller strike.
