Nest
For children ages 4 and 5 who are in Early School/Pre K4
or entering Kindergarten
The Hawks Haven Nest provides our youngest campers
with the same quality and diverse program found in
our Primary Camp. Children participate in fun, active,
enriching activities that are age and developmentally
appropriate. These activities will be geared toward
young children who already have some school
experience or will be entering school for the first time
in the fall. Our youngest campers will not participate in
off-campus field trips. However, we will bring special
events and activities to campus just for them! In the
past these activities have included a make your own
stuffed toy day, an educational program presented by
specialists from the Racine Zoo, and a bouncy house.
A typical day will include both individual and small
group activities with an emphasis on:
·
Developingsocialskills
·
Providingcognitivechallenges
·
Learningtocooperateandfunction
successfully in a group
·
Exploring
·
Buildingself-confidence
·
Learningtomakechoices

Each and every day will include indoor activities, such
as writing, painting, cutting, play-dough, puzzles and
legos. Our outdoor activities include water fun and
great games. Both give your child a chance to develop
gross and fine motor skills and include "free choice" as
well as instructor-led activities. Because of our busy
schedule, all the children can benefit from a one hour
rest or "down time". Children who want/need to sleep
have the opportunity to do so. Children who do not
sleep may listen to stories or work individually or in
small groups with a staff member.
Theme of the Week Activities include:
Getting to Know You Week: Make new
friends and let us learn about you.
Animal Friends Week: Fascinating life and
wonderful adventures exist right in our own
backyard.
Stars and Stripes Week: Three cheers for the
Red, White and Blue.
Princess and Pirates Week: Who doesn't like
pretending?
Arctic Week: It is fun to learn about the Arctic
during the long hot summer.
Health and Fitness Week: You are never too
