You’re coming in at a tough time for fundraising, and a big part of your job is developmentrelated. Is this a different kind of community because of Bermuda’s large corporate sector?
Yes,itis.Haditnotbeenforthealumniatmy formerschools,wewouldnothavebeensuccessful fund-raising.Hereit’sauniqueenvironment. Theschoolsaretiedtotheebbandflowof corporationsandbusinesses,notsomuchonthe alumni.Weknowwehavetodoabetterjob cultivatingouralumni.Itisquitechallenging, keepingthemattached.Butwereallyaretrying toincreasethelevelofattachmentofalumniof allages,andalsoencourageparentannualgiving. Parentshavetakenanumberoffeeincreases. nowwewanttohavejustasmallincrease—and givemorebangforthebuck.
