Jiney Caines ('05) graduated from
McGill University, QC in 2009 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in
Anatomy and Cell Biology, and is
currently studying at SUNY College of
Optometry in Manhattan, NY, and will
graduate in June 2014.
Andrew Whale ('05) graduated from
Queen's University, ON, in 2009 with a
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in
Mathematics and Biochemistry, and is
working at Sun Life Financial in
Toronto as director of actuarial pricing,
group retirement services. He passed
his actuarial exams last year and
became a Fellow of the Society of
Actuaries in June 2012. "I'm getting
married next May," he says. "Fellow
Saltus alumni Andrew Barnes ('05),
Colin James ('05) and my brother
Michael ('03) will be in the wedding
party."
Rebecca Doughty ('05) graduated
from the University of Bristol, UK, in
2009 with a Bachelor of Science in
Deaf Studies and received a post-
graduate degree in Primary Education
from the University of Gloucestershire
in 2012. She is currently a Year 4
teacher at Beechwood Junior School
in Southampton, UK.
Kristina Wright ('05) graduated from
Nova Southeastern University with a
major in Psychology and is currently a
manager at Hertz in Fort Lauderdale,
FL. Her goal is to move back to
Bermuda in the near future to start a
career in teaching.
Samantha Saunders (2005) is
studying law at the School of Oriental
and African Studies (SOAS), University
of London, UK.
1st Lt. Charles Waters (2005), who
fought in the Iraq War, was profiled in
a Royal Gazette article before he
headed for a tour of duty in
Afghanistan. In Iraq, he earned a
Bronze Star for his service in Baghdad
from May to December 2011 for
"exceptionally meritorious service
to the United States" as 1st Platoon
Leader in the planning, resourcing,
execution and supervision of more
than 20 combat missions covering a
nearly 40,000-square-kilometre area
of operations."
Meliseanna Gibbons ('06), is work-
ing towards a medical degree at St.
George's University in Grenada. She
was awarded a Nicholl Scholarship.
Andrew Masters ('06), graduated
from the University of Southern
California in 2010 with a BA in
Communication and taught English
for a year in Chengdu, China. He
currently lives in Los Angeles and is
working as ad operations coordinator
for Stardoll Media, a digital advertising
sales company.
James Daniels ('07) is the second
engineer aboard the Diamond A.
Daniel Woods ('07) graduated from
London, ON's Fanshawe College with
a marketing diploma and Lawrence
Kinlin School of Business with a
management and leadership diploma.
After returning home, he co-founded
Off Level Productions, a promotion
and party-planning business, and
helped organise two major events at
Snorkel Park in the summer of 2012.
Daniel will begin a graduate certifica-
tion in Internet marketing at Full Sail
University, FL, in January.
Chef Benjamin Bernardo ('07) is the
catering officer aboard Spirit of
Bermuda.
Connor Doyle (2007), a student at
University College London, was
awarded a 2012 Legal Scholarship by
Conyers Dill & Pearman.
Oliver Riihiluoma ('08) graduated in
June with a degree in Mechanical
Engineering and a minor in Computer
Science from Stanford University, CA.
Oliver worked at Orbis over the sum-
mer and has returned to Stanford to
start a graduate degree in Mechanical
Engineering.
Lawrence Doughty ('08) has a BSc
in Environmental Geoscience from
Cardiff University, Wales, and is
currently working on a conservation
project in Guyana.

Calyx Tucker
('10), right in photo,
studying at the University of
Leeds, spent last year as an
exchange student at Doshisha
University in Kyoto, Japan, as part
of her degree course, BA Japanese
and Politics. She studied Japan-
ese language and culture and
received a scholarship from the
Japan Student Service Organisa-
tion. Calyx is studying for the
Japanese language proficiency
test and aiming to sit the N2 level
examination in July. "I would never
have been able to reach Japan
without the help and support of
everyone at Saltus," she says.
