Ian Maule ('83) has been made vice
president of Energy Supply at BELCO.
Peter Hind (1989), an assistant
professor in the architecture programme
at the University of Nebraska's College
of Architecture, was on the Island
visiting family. Jon Beard took him on
a tour of the Saltus campus.
1990s
Scott Pearman (1990) joined Conyers
Dill & Pearman as a member of its
Bermuda litigation team. Previously,
Scott was a barrister at Ely Place
Chambers in London for 13 years,
specialising in commercial litigation.
Kimberley Zuill ('93) became the
new director of the Bermuda Weather
Service (BWS) in September 2012.
She began her career as a forecaster
trainee in 1997, taking an 18-month
certification course at the Caribbean
Meteorological Institute in Barbados.
Later, while working at the Bermuda
Weather Service, she obtained
a degree in Environmental
Studies and Geography from the
University of Waterloo, ON.
Conyers Dill & Pearman welcomed
Niel Jones ('95) back to the
Bermuda corporate team from its
Moscow office, where he had worked
since 2008. "Most recently, Mr. Jones
led the Conyers team, advising the
Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange
(MICEX) on its US$4.5-billion merger
with the Russian Trading System
(RTS) stock exchange, which created
one of the biggest exchanges in
Europe," the company reported.
Jennifer Campbell ('96) and husband
Gary welcomed their second child,
daughter Emily Elizabeth, in August.
Jennie teaches voice lessons.
ACE appointed Graeme Henderson
('98) as vice president, international,
and Darin Cassidy ('98) as vice
president, USA (based in Bermuda),
in its ACE Tempest Re Bermuda
reinsurance unit. Graeme joined ACE
from Axis Reinsurance Company,
where he was an underwriter. Darin
was promoted from within the USA unit.
Owain Johnston-Barnes ('99) says
he was "completely stunned" when
he won the top award for his play, A
Thousand Words, in the BMDS Famous
for Fifteen Minutes competition. "This
contest is pretty much the highlight of
the Bermuda theatre year for me," he
says. "It's a fantastic opportunity for
people who are interested in writing,
acting, directing or pretty much
anything else, to come in and get
their feet wet."
George Spurling (1999), who is
completing a MBA in Finance at the
Wharton School of Business at the
University of Pennsylvania, intends
to pursue a career in global health
financing. He was awarded the Bank
of Bermuda Foundation Eldon H.
Trimingham Masters of Business
Administration Scholarship 2012.
2000s
Marie Humphrey (2000) has returned
to Bermuda. She is married to Alex
Fay, a dentist. The couple toured
Saltus recently with their baby.
Richard Campbell (2000) is a physical
education teacher at Somerset Primary,
and his son, Lucian, started P1 there
this year.
Ian Jacobs (formerly Ostroff-Striffler)
(2000) married Margaret (Meg) Morris
in July in Arlington, VA. The couple is
making a home in the Washington
DC area.
Jonathan Herring ('01) won the
Bank of Bermuda Foundation
Triathlon in St. George's in September,
completing the half-mile swim, 20K
bike and 5K run in a time of 1:1:51.
This was his first win in the annual
event. "I've been competing since I
was nine years old," he says, "and
now I'm 29, so it definitely feels good
to win this event. I just love to race
whether I win or not."
ALUMNI
Rachael Barritt
('94), who specialises in
matrimonial and family law and has extensive
advocacy experience, was appointed as a
director at the law firm of Marshall, Diel &
Myers. Rachael has two daughters, Avery Isla
Taylor, one, and Hannah Somers, five.
