This one-day resuscitation course provides healthcare personnel with the essential knowledge and skills to manage adult patients in cardiac arrest for the short time before the arrival of the cardiac arrest team. Certificated by the UK Resuscitation Council, it is comprised of lecture and skill stations in basic life support, defibrillation, introduction to cardiac arrest rhythm recognition, basic and some advanced airway management (intubation is not included). emergencies. This course is run over one day and is mainly delivered as hands-on practical skill stations, work- shops and lectures. The PILS course aims to provide healthcare staff with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to: Prevent cardio respiratory arrest Treat the child in respiratory or cardio respiratory arrest for the short time before the arrival of a resuscitation team or more experienced assistance Become members of the resuscitation team provide clear practical instruction in airway support and the theoretical background to illustrate its importance in resuscitation of the newborn.
