How do I apply for courses?

obtained from the Course contacts listed under
each course description. Except for credit bearing
courses such as the Vocational Qualifications and
degree courses, employees of the States of
Guernsey Health and Social Services Department
can book themselves on to Institute courses directly
What do courses cost?
The cost of each course is provided in this
prospectus alongside the course descriptors. Please
contact the Institute for further details on course
costs.
What if I have to cancel a course booking?
It is essential to notify the course administrator of
non-attendance at a course as soon as possible so
that your place can be offered to others. Charges
may be applied for late cancellation.
Will I get a certificate that shows I have completed
a course?
The Institute awards either Records of Attendance
or Certificates of Achievement on course
completion on request, which may incur a small
charge. Lead or awarding bodies award their own
certificates. Higher Education students will be
provided with a Transcript of Achievement upon
request.
What opportunities are there to keep up-to-date?
Conferences, seminars and workshops on a range of
topics are organised locally enabling health and
social care workers to gain a wider view of current
issues and share practice developments. These
events are advertised on our website at
www.gov.gg/theinstitute.
What educational links does the Institute have?
The Institute has close links with a number of
organisations and universities both on-island and in
the UK, including the University of East Anglia, the
Open University, the University of York, the
Guernsey College of Further Education, Edexcel and
professional regulatory bodies.
Where do I go to attend a course?
The Institute is located on the top floor of the new
clinical block on the Princess Elizabeth Hospital site.
There are seven classrooms, a practical skills room,
an IT training room and a videoconferencing suite.
Outside venues are sometimes used for larger
events.
