Feathers, lace, beads and jewels are just a few of the glam-
orous highlights adorning products to be presented at the
Premiere Market. From March 21-23, the upscale market fea-
tures specialty items from across the state and is convenient-
ly located for guests in a one-stop shop at the Brazos Center!
Graciously sponsored by FedStar Credit Union and The
Matthews Group, this exciting event serves a dual purpose
of benefiting shoppers and the Brazos Valley Symphony.
Lou Ellen Ruesink, merchant coordinator for Premiere Mar-
ket, explains that this isn't your typical fundraiser, but more
of a uniquely devised gala experience for patrons and all for
a worthy cause.
"We have a very professional and awesome symphony that
we're all so very proud of and we want to take fundraising
to a new level," says Ruesink. "We expect this to become a
major fundraiser for the symphony."
To accomplish a goal of creating a sought-after shopping ex-
perience, the event is a juried market, meaning each exhibi-
tor was chosen by a selection committee to provide shoppers
with only the most elegant, unique, and inspiring products
around.
The market kicks off on Thursday evening with a stellar
preview party from 5:30-8 p.m. For a $25 entry fee, visi-
tors can shop early and while enjoying champagne and hors
d'oeuvres from spectacular Christopher's World Grille. Of
course, the preview party wouldn't be complete without mu-
sic performed by members of the Symphony! Reservations to
attend the Preview Party must be made in advance by calling
the BVS office at 979-696-6100.
On Your Mark!
On Friday, the market will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is a $5
fee, and shoppers will receive a free tote bag.
Over 50 vendors showcase their items, including Bren-
ham's The Gilded Giraffe, a jewelry boutique; Levity based
in Rosanky, a unique vendor of hats and accessories; Sassy
Classy from Spring, which features custom designs on the
popular Tom's shoes; and Jan's Sewing Sensations of Bay-
town, offering hand-made baby accessories.
The famous Royers Round Top Café from Round Top sells
their world-famous pies. Gourmet chicken pie and quiche are
available by the slice to satisfy shoppers as they work up an
appetite. In addition, each merchant has donated silent auc-
tion items that shoppers can bid on as they browse.
Steve Krusie, marketing chair for the Symphony, says the
fundraiser will help the symphony continue to offer cultur-
ally enriching concerts and educational programs, as well as
bring in marquee guest artists. "We want more people in our
community to realize the quality musicianship that exists in
the Brazos Valley Symphony."
"Like every non-profit organization, we de-
pend on financial support from the com-
munity and fundraising events that appeal
to both our loyal patrons and folks that
might otherwise never attend a concert.
The key is to offer
fundraising events
that are fun, unique
and wide-reaching
in their appeal to
everyone in the
Brazos Valley
community."
