The Ocean City Lions Club presented a check for $300 to the Stephen Decatur High School Cheer Squad to help members raise money to take part in the pre-game show at the Capital One Bowl, New Year’s Day in Orlando. Thirteen squad members are planning to make the trip if they can raise enough money. The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore recently recognized Interstate Container for its generous support during the annual United Way campaign. Employee and corporate contributions totaled $39,608 making Interstate Container the largest employee campaign in Dorchester County for the 20132014 United Way campaign season. Interstate Container has partnered with United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore with annual campaigns since 2007 raising a total of $205,962 to date. The Arthur W. Perdue Foundation recently awarded Salisbury Horizons a $2,500 grant to provide financial support to general operations and the high school academic coaching program. Salisbury Horizons provides academic, cultural and recreational opportunities to a diverse group of public school students from low-income families. Tina Pearson, founder of Home of the Brave, a holiday away-from-home for combat veterans and their families, located in Berlin, visited Star Charities' November meeting to tell board members about her Home of the Brave facility. The home was conceived and founded in 2009 in a secluded, private three-bedroom (sleeps eight), three-bath, handicapped accessible home in Berlin.
