Around 4 p.m. on June 26, an OCPD officer initiated a traffic stop at 1st Street and Philadelphia Ave. for a seatbelt violation. After noticing the six occupants acting scared and nervous, according to reports, the officer requested a search of the vehicle. During the search, OCPD officers recovered a quarter of a pound of marijuana, over 100 doses of LSD, a butterfly knife and over $2,000 in cash. The vehicle was also seized as contraband. The six occupants were arrested on various drug and weapons charges. Eric Michael Livering, 24, of Lebanon, Pa., was charged with possession of marijuana and LSD, making a false statement to a police officer, failure to provide a license to a police officer and a seatbelt violation. Joshua Saverwein, 18, of Lebanon, Pa., was charged with possession of marijuana and LSD. Seth Shindel, 21, of Lebanon, was charged with possession of marijuana and LSD and possession with intent to distribute LSD. Leah Moyer, 18, of Cleono, Pa., was charged with possession of marijuana and LSD and two counts of possession of LSD with intent to distribute. Ari Ann Hoch, 32, of Lebanon, was charged with two counts of possession of LSD with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and LSD and possession of a concealed dangerous weapon. Alfredo Hernandez, 31, of Palmyra, Pa., was charged with possession of marijuana and LSD. This week, four of the suspects appeared for trial with varying outcomes. Moyer pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but five days suspended. She was also placed on probation for two years and fined $500. Shindel pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to 30 days, all of which was suspended, and was placed on probation for 18 months and fined $500. Livering and Saverwein each pleaded guilty to simple possession and each was fined $500 and placed on probation for one year. Hoch has been charged in Circuit Court with possession with intent to distribute and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon and has a trial date set for February. Finally, Hernandez failed to appear for trial in September and had a warrant SEE NEXT PAGE Local Man Arrested On Burglary Charges OCEAN CITY – An Ocean City man was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts of burglary and theft after allegedly breaking into the office and other rooms at a downtown hotel. Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Ocean City Police responded to the area of Baltimore Ave. and 1st Street for a reported burglary. The victim told police a suspect had entered his room along with a nearby office space and another room and had stolen numerous items. During the investigation, Ocean City Police Communications broadcast a description of the suspect. Shortly after the broadcast, the suspect, who was later identified Donovan Smith, 46, of Ocean City, was spotted in DONOVAN SMITH West Ocean City. Police responded to the area and arrested Smith without incident. Smith was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was transferred to the Worcester County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Cops & Courts ous charges last week after first assaulting a Berlin resident and then returning to the scene of the crime and barricading himself in a bedroom at the home. Around 1 a.m. last Friday, Berlin Police responded to a residence on Cheryl Drive for a reported assault and other suspicious circumstances. When police arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene. However, Berlin Police returned a short time later and located several people, including the suspect identified as Elijah R. Kellam, 23, of Delmar. Kellam fled the scene again and a computer check revealed he was wanted on three open bench warrants and one open arrest warrant. A K-9 unit was called in and tracked Kellam back the assault victim’s house. Berlin Police discovered force was used to gain entry to the residence and search revealed Kellam had returned and barricaded himself in a bedroom. Kellam was arrested without further incident and was charged with fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property and the outstanding warrants.
