Submitted Photos For the second straight year, Stephen Decatur High School celebrated the beginning of the school year with a student led assembly that addressed positive decision making. Student speakers were, back, Ronnie Foreman, Demond Henry, Jacob Hickman, Tripp Ortega, Andrew Leto, Gary Qian and Andrew Bradshaw; and, front, Jacob Gaddis, Hannah Duckworth, Alexis McDonough, Gabi Ortega, Ciara Wright, Fiona O'Brien, Delilah Purnell and Jonah Crisanti. Snow Hill Middle School eighth-graders, along with Worcester Technical High School’s agriculture students, will help plant trees along streams associated with the Chesapeake watershed. The school applied for and was awarded a $50,000 grant that will help restore approximately five acres. Third-grade students in Miss Maloney’s class at Ocean City Elementary School worked in groups to manipulate base 10 blocks in a giant place value chart. Students were given clues about the digits in the ones, tens, hundreds and thousands and they were required to represent that number using the base 10 manipulatives. Each year, Worcester Prep hosts seniors for a Back-to-School luncheon during which they enjoy getting together to learn more about college admissions procedures, college visits, their senior trip to England, senior privileges, senior lunches and seniors as school leaders. Among the 54 graduates to be are, from left, Madison O’Malley, Daniel Rosa, Bethany Wolpin, Jennifer Karsli, Hannah Esham and Razaak Eniola. The Jarrod Radnich Pirates of the Caribbean Worldwide YouTube Piano Competition began in August, and Hannah Perdue, a fifth-grade student at Worcester Preparatory School, submitted a video of her interpretation of Pirates of the Caribbean to Radnich. Her entry was accepted, and the young pianist became part of the first round of competition, continued on to final round, and placed among the top musicians in the 13 and Under Age Group. She was later accepted into the worldwide competition.
