Dr. Bohdan Kunciw and Janet Kun-
ciw of Berlin, received the Allen R.
Dudley Memorial Award in Chem-
istry at the 2013 Spring Honors
Convocation at Salisbury University.
The Allen R. Dudley Memorial
Award in Chemistry is given as a
memorial to the devoted father and
husband, whose career involved
chemistry, including contributions to
chemical processes and products.
The award is presented to a senior
Chemistry major who demonstrates
promise in the field.
Kunciw is a senior majoring in
chemistry. She is a Gates Cam-
bridge Scholarship recipient and is
a 2009 graduate of Worcester
Preparatory School.
·Elmira College held its 158th
Commencement in Elmira, N.Y., last
month and included Mary Geller-
man of Bethany Beach, Del., who
earned a Bachelor of Science de-
gree in Nursing.
·Kelsey Poloney of Ocean City
graduated from Gettysburg College
and majored in History.
·James G. McGarry of Ocean
City has been named to the McDan-
iel College spring 2013 Dean's List
with Honors. Highest honors are
earned for a semester grade point
average of 3.90 or higher, high hon-
ors for a grade point average of
3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-
3.69 average. He graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise
Science & Physical Education.
·Sean Patrick McGarry of Ocean
City graduated with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Exercise Science &
Physical Education from McDaniel
College.
·Kimberly E. Thayer of Berlin gra-
duated with a master's degree in
Curriculum and Instruction during
the 143rd Commencement at Mc-
Daniel College. More than 480 mas-
ter's degrees were awarded during
the ceremony.
·Paige Spangler, Onancock, a
2010 graduate of Worcester Pre-
paratory School, has been awarded
a scholarship to study at Jordan Un-
iversity in Amman, Jordan. Fluent in
Arabic, Spangler is a student of In-
ternational Affairs and economics at
George Washington University,
where she is producer of the college
theater company and vice president
of Phi Beta Phi.
·Andrew Canakis from Bishopville
recently graduated from the College
of William & Mary with a BA degree.
·Emily L. Hagerty, daughter of
John and Teri Hagerty of Selbyville,
was named to the Dean's List for
the spring 2013 semester at Saint
Michael's College. Hagerty is a
Junior Sociology and Anthropology
major at the liberal arts and sci-
ences, residential Catholic college
located in Burlington, Vt.
·Local students making the
dean's list at James Madison Uni-
versity for the spring 2013 semester
were Rachel Frock of Ocean City
and Amanda Schultz of Selbyville.
Additionally, graduating from
James Madison University this
spring were Evan Fitzgerald of Ber-
lin and Lisa Good of Ocean Pines.
·Air Force Airman Kyle T. Gilles-
