a chic new year's Day celebration, for example, would make
for a perfect occasion for this décor, Kathy says. it's an over the top
statement but in breaking it down, most anyone can achieve this
fabulous tablescape. first, much of what you see is an illusion of
grandeur. a monochromatic color scheme says the design is delib-
erate and by adding silver sprayed branches, the look is instantly
high fashion. four, tall corner candlesticks sets an impactful geo-
metric pattern while their exaggerated height offers interest.
the pattern is taken a step further by using stacked geometric
plates for hors d'oeuvres at the base of the table. Bite size nibbles
are the perfect pairing for this occasion and design theme. finally,
the collection of white vases and airy white seasonal florals create
warmth and romance to an otherwise cool, sleek palette.
the floating table is a coined signature design for Kathy G.,
but one that she says is a "simple concept." over a standard sized
table, a silk lamour linen is draped. With the addition of clear
baubles or fruit covering the table's surface and a clear sheet of
lucite overtop, the fanciful illusion is complete!
the food
of course, décor and design isn't all entertaining is based on,
mezrano says. Great food is a must as well. in addition to the
main course, inventive hor d'oeuvres and drinks are great crowd
pleasers. Don't be afraid to mix old with new in food and design,
and warm up the next few months with some wonderfully enter-
taining ideas.
