Weather
no one wants to get caught on the water in a storm! Use these apps to make
sure the forecast is boat-friendly.
myWeather (free) features hour-by-hour weather forecasts for seven days. the
iPhone version (compatible with iPads) shows radar maps and current conditions.
for a closer look at the tides, you might want to download ayetides xl ($7.99),
which presents the tides or currents (tidal streams). it features a two-day view with
sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset times; the current value of the tide/current
and a tide countdown clock.

check out these apps for all of your navigation needs.they'll get you where you
need to go and back home again.
navionic ($14.99) offers marine and lake charts that you can download to the
iPad; once downloaded, they function without an internet connection. the app fea-
tures tides and currents; route planning, waypoints and markers; route tracking and
satellite overlay on charts.
navimatics charts & tides ($24.99) supports activecaptain with offline updat-
ing and reviews so you can add to the community. in fact, the entire activecaptain
database is stored on your iPad so you can access information about marinas, an-
chorages, hazards, bridges and points of interest at any time.

your grandfather may have had a knack for choosing the right fishing spot and
bait, but you've got apps to help you. Pull out your iPad and download these great
fishing apps before you cast your line again.
iGfa mobile ($8.99) by the international Game fish association allows you to
search current iGfa angling world records, identify your catch and log the fish you
catch. the app integrates with facebook and email so you can share photos of your
catch and brag within minutes of landing the big one!
fishHead ($6.99) allows you to track current weather, river, tide and lunar
information at your favorite stream or tidal fishing location. the app includes more
than 20,000 rivers and tide stations in the U.s. and U.s. territories.
safety
your iPad can be just what you need in case of an emergency. Here are some
apps for less-than-perfect circumstances.
the american Heart association's Pocket first aid and cPr app ($3.99) is easy
to search in an emergency. it contains information for dealing with adult, child or
infant cPr or choking situations as well as emergency cardiovascular care. enter
your own medical information in the profile section, including your doctor's contact,
insurance and allergy information.
Boatsafe ($0.99) helps boaters provide family members or friends with trip
information in case they need to send out a search party.
