THE SOLHEIM CUP
SEPTEMBER 18-20, 2015
The Solheim Cup combines the tradition and prestige of the game of golf with passion for one’s country. This biennial, trans-Atlantic match-play competition features the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET). The U.S. Team leads the competition, 8-5, following Europe’s dramatic victory on U.S. soil at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo. In 2015, the American team will look to regain the Cup at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot near Heidelberg, Germany. THE CUP 17-5/8 Waterford Crystal cup with a 2-1/2-inch mahogany base THE COURSE Golf Club St. Leon-Rot was founded in 1996. It is a member of the “Leading Golf Courses in Germany” and consists of two 18 hole championship golf courses. The Deutsche Bank SAP Open, a European Tour tournament, has previously been held at the venue. The PING Junior Solheim Cup will, for the first time in history, take place at the same venue as the Solheim Cup, Golf Club St. Leon-Rot. TEAM SELECTION U.S. Team: The 12-player U.S. Team will be made up of the top eight on the LPGA Solheim Cup points list, the next two highest-ranked eligible players from the Rolex Rankings and two captain’s picks. U.S. players began earning points toward the 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup Team at the 2013 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open. European Team: The European Team is selected by taking the top four players from the LET points standings, followed by the next top four European LET members appearing on the Rolex Rankings at an agreed cut-off date, plus four captain’s selections. Players began accumulating points toward the 2015 European Solheim Cup Team at the 2013 Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.
