Three-time champion Amy Alcott began a winner’s tradition of jumping into Poppie’s Pond at the 18th hole after her victory in 1991. Dinah Shore’s legacy and heritage is preserved with the “Dinah Shore Walk of Champions” at the 18th hole at Mission Hills Country Club, and the tradition and the leap into Poppie’s Pond will continue with the creation of the ANA Inspiration. FIVE KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Dates: June 8-14 • Site: Westchester Country Club, Rye, NY • Purse: $3,500,000 2014 Winner: Inbee Park, 277 (-11) • Victory Margin: Defeated Brittany Lincicome on first playoff hole History: Established in 1955, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is the second-longest running tournament in LPGA history but will take on a historic evolution in 2015 with the LPGA Tour and PGA of America partnering in a groundbreaking venture with KPMG to continue the tradition of the LPGA Championship for many years to come. The event will be held at the iconic Westchester Country Club just outside of New York City and will become the second-highest purse in women’s golf. U.S. Women’s Open Dates: July 6-12 • Site: Lancaster Country Club, Lancaster, PA • Purse: $4,000,000 2014 Winner: Michelle Wie, 278 (-2) • Victory Margin: Defeated Stacy Lewis by two strokes History: Originally created by the Women’s Professional Golf Association (WPGA) in 1946, run by the LPGA from 1950-1952, and conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) since 1953, the U.S. Women’s Open is the longest running tournament in women’s professional golf. Known for its traditionally challenging setup, the U.S. Women’s Open is one of the most coveted titles in women’s golf. The 2014 edition was one of the most memorable in recent memory with both the men’s and women’s national championship being held on the same course – historic Pinehurst No. 2 – in back-to-back weeks for the first time in the championship’s history. RICOH Women’s British Open Dates: July 27-August 2 • Site: Trump Turnberry Resort, Turnberry, Ayrshire, UK • Purse: $3,000,000 2014 Winner: Mo Martin, 287 (-1) • Victory Margin: Defeated Suzann Pettersen and Shanshan Feng by one stroke History: Started in 1976 and a part of the LPGA Tour since 1994, the Women’s British Open was designated as an LPGA major in September 2000, effective 2001. Like the U.S. Women’s Open, the RICOH Women’s British Open changes its venue annually. The Evian Championship Dates: September 7-13 • Site: Evian Resort Golf Club, Evian-les-Bains, France • Purse: $3,250,000 2014 Winner: Hyo Joo Kim, 273 (-11) • Victory Margin: Defeated Karrie Webb by one stroke History: The Evian replaced the Evian Masters, a Tour stop on the LPGA since 2000, whose legacy was elevating the women’s professional golf to new heights with increased purses and fields that attracted the very best players in women’s golf from around the world. It became a major championship in 2013.
