In the fall Alyssa will attended North Central Texas College in Gainesville as a sophomore on a rodeo scholarship, studying to get her equine science and equine business degree. Alyssa loves attending jackpots and local rodeos to help get your horse ready for those college rodeos. 'I am grateful to have earned this title and it's been an honor to represent the Jim Bowie Days and the City of Bowie.” Jim Bowie Days Association to Add New Event Jim Bowie Days Association is proud to announce the addition of a barrel race to the lineup of events. This will be a 4D, added money barrel race hosted by County Line Cowboy Church at the arena in Bowie. It will be held Monday, June 19th with exhibitions to start at 5:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. Race starts at 7:30 p.m.. This will give everyone an opportunity to make a run in the arena before their run during JBD rodeo later that week. Entry fee: $25; Office fee: $5 (per person, not per horse); Exhibitions: $5. 75% payback plus $250 added money. She resides in Rosston, Tx and is currently a 6th grade student at Era ISD where she is an A honor roll student. Kalli competes in academic UIL events, participates in horse judging, and is an active member in Rosston UMC. She participates in the 4H horse program where she recently won several accomplishments, including: 2017 Cooke County 4-H High Point Junior Speed Event Champion, 2017 Denton County Youth Fair Junior Speed Event Champion, and 2017 Cooke County Youth Fair Speed Event Champion. Kalli is also a member in the National Barrel Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Little Britches Rodeo Association, the American Paint Horse Association, the National Reined Cow Horse Association, and the Ranch Sorting National Championships. She loves participating in youth rodeos where she competes in Barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying. Kalli is very grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Jim Bowie Days Rodeo for the past year. Her many highlights include representing at rodeos all across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma, 6 parades, and numerous volunteer events. In the future, Kalli looks forward to obtaining a degree in equine dentistry at Tarleton State University, where she plans to compete on the rodeo team. Jim Bowie Days Parade Entries Being Accepted The Jim Bowie Days Association is now accepting applications for the 51st Annual Jim Bowie Days parade on Saturday, June 24th. They are looking for floats, riding clubs, etc. Kids can decorate bicycles and join in. Awards will be presented in different categories. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Packer cows were steady to $5 higher. Packer bulls were $2 to $4 higher. The replacement bred cows and pairs were $50 to $100 higher. Market on steers and heifers weighing 600# and under were steady with a good demand. Feeder steers, bulls & heifers weighing over 600# were steady on the weaned yearlings. We had a good run of cattle today, the market being steady but active.
