Our Early School (ages 3-5) and Primary School (Grades K-4) demonstrate
well that wonder and curiosity, the earliest ingredients of great minds, are
fueled here. The youngest minds are the most impressionable ones, and we
know these are the most important times for developing habits and learning
practices that will last a lifetime.
Dedicated learning specialists, daily music and art, exposure to technology
tools, and even a campus "giving garden," cultivated and maintained by
students, provide a deeply varied and challenging environment for young
students. Our science and math Exploratorium--an idea center and
discovery room--invites them to learn by doing. The logic and concepts
of mathematics are taught using the University of Chicago's curriculum.
Reading and writing focus on conceptual development for higher-level
thinking. These are the first building blocks of great awareness and intellect.
We almost literally hear the young minds reaching, yearning, in these vital
years. The seeds of scholastic excellence are planted here. But their journey
isn't simply about what they will become . . . it's about who they will
become: adults who will change the world.
Inspired learning can never begin too early. Nurturing
the potential of young minds is why Prairie was created.
