If you pine for Powder then make tracks for Fernie, renowned for its natural
snow conditions with the average annual snowfall being 29 feet. Situated in
the southeast corner of British Colombia, Fernie is recognised for receiving
above average snowfalls but with usually milder temperatures than other areas
of Canada. The terrain includes trails, bowls and acres and acres of tree skiing
and riding. Experts can disappear into extensive glades, drop big ridges, bomb
chutes and cut fresh turns into powder; intermediates can get a feel for off piste
and gladed terrain. The Deer and Elk Chairs access wide open groomed rolling
slopes perfect for all beginners and intermediates. You can stay on mountain
in lodges and condominiums or in the township of Fernie 5km away. It is not
a glitzy resort nor does it have a big nightlife but there are a good variety of
restaurants and bars to keep you entertained.
Other Activities: Sleigh Rides, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowcat skiing,
ice skating.
