Haast - Haast Junction, Haast
Beach and Haast township.
The junction is where the road
leaves the coast to follow the
trans-alpine route to Otago.
This rugged route follows an
ancient Maori greenstone trail
through magnificent scenery of
primeval forests, tranquil lakes
and cascading waterfalls. Along
the Haast Pass numerous tracks
lead off into the rainforests and
mountains. By way of jet boat
or helicopter, local guides can
