FOX GLACIER
THE TOWNSHIP at Fox is a
small peaceful settlement and
an ideal place for a relaxing
holiday. Nearby, the magnificent
glacier covers 13.5km and
features a mighty ice river
flowing out of an arching cave
beneath its terminal face. To
view the glacier at close range
there are guided tours and
scenic flights available. From
Fox Glacier township don't miss
Lake Matheson. The Café and
exclusive retail shop are a
"must" to visit in this region.
Lake Matheson renowned for its
chocolate box reflections of the
alps, Mount Cook and Mount
Tasman. Well graded boardwalks
lead to the lake through native
forest inhabited by a wide range
of birdlife.

HAAST
HAAST IS ONE OF THE MOST
southern points on the West
Coast. Ship Creek is situated on
an attractive lagoon where a
ship came to rest after it was
holed off the Victorian Coast in
Australia. The coastline here is a
habitat for seals and penguins.
A tower is located near the
lagoon that offers a viewing
place for spotting the wildlife
which, offshore, also includes
the world's smallest dolphins.
