Library News Fauquier County Public Library Will Hold its First Annual Teen Poetry/Short Story Challenge This Spring. eens in grades 6-12 can submit up to three poems or one short story in the Challenge until April 14. Entries will be accepted until April 14 online at the library’s website or in person at any Fauquier County Library. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries for middle school and high school separately at a special award ceremony to be held April 30. The Library is pleased to announce the judges for the challenge will be two local authors and a local journalist. Susan McCorkindale, author of Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl and 500 Acres and No Place to Hide; Aimée O’Grady Piedmont Family Magazine editor; and Jennifer Hanford, author of Daughters for a Time and winner of an Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award have all graciously agreed to participate in the event. Celebrate Library Week in Prince William County by Participating in the “Love My Library” Campaign his campaign runs through April 20. Each library in the county will feature select items for donation. In 2012, 540 items were donated to this campaign, valued at $6,377 worth of materials. T T M   Congratulations to the recipients of the Prince William County Library Foundation Award! atthew Dale Burke, a volunteer at Nokesville Neighborhood Library studying at Shenandoah University, and Tau Ly, a volunteer at Dumfries Neighborhood Library, currently enrolled at Virginia Tech. Each received the $1,000 award. Eligibility for the award included being active volunteers in the Prince William Public Library System volunteer program; having worked a minimum of 150 library hours; having a high school diploma or a candidate for graduation in 2012; and seeking a certificate or diploma after graduating from high school.
