Wills Announce Presidential Couple Shows Planned For Fall
OCEAN CITY – William and Sue Wills, who from 1978 to 1997 presented live theater in Ocean City with the Parker Playhouse and Carousel Summer Theater, were back in town last weekend to present “John and Abigail Adams” for the Worcester County Republican Women at the Carousel Hotel. This show is one of 33 presidential couples that the couple has researched, written and performed. Following the performance, the couple announced that they would return to Ocean City in the fall with a first of its kind event – they will present all 33 of their shows in five days from Oct. 29 through Nov. 2 at the OC Jamboree Theater. These two lifelong entertainers will portray 68 different characters and spend at least five hours every day on stage. In the process, the audience will not only gain insights into these presidential couples, but will also get a concise rendering of over 250 years of American History. Since ceasing their theatrical endeavors in Ocean City, this hard-working couple has given in the past 16 years nearly 5,000 presentations of “Presidents and Their First Ladies, dramatically speaking” in 35 states and at seven of the nation’s Presidential Museums. It has been a dream of theirs to highlight all 33 shows in one location and now that dream will come true. It will be made even more special in that William and Sue will be receiving no compensation, except travel and lodging expenses, for this five-day marathon so that all profits will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. They are doing this in honor of their son, Dan, who volunteered for the Army after Sept. 11, 2001, and did two tours in Iraq, including the initial invasion. Dan is currently living in Ocean City and will be assisting his parents in this very special project. A special website, www.presidentsproject.org, has all the information and links to ticket purchasing. Currently on sale is the all-inclusive event ticket for $150; daily tickets for $40. Individual show tickets will not go on sale until the fall on an as available basis.
Over a five-day stretch this fall, the OC Jamboree in West Ocean City will host all 33 presentations of William and Sue Wills’ presidential couples series. Submitted Photo
