Ocean City Elementary School honored the April Students of the Month on Tuesday, April 30, with a T-shirt, luncheon and special cake, sponsored by the Ocean City-Berlin Optimists and the OCES PTA. Pictured, first row, are firstgrade honorees Ava Barry, Kayla Rocco, Chase Kennell, Evelyn Westman, Summer Vent and Cole Campbell; second row, second-graders Lauren Hoffman, Claire Suttka, Ella Truitt, Owen Schardt, Nash Rogers and Meghan Bean; third row, third-graders Gavin McCabe, Lexi Mumford, Hanna Zajdel, Anderssen Taylor, Mariana Castellanos-Avalos and Joseph Buxbaum (absent); and, fourth row, fourth-graders Aidan Morrison, Jessica Janney, Serap Aksu, Aaron Proctor, Kylie Boston, Jacelyn Clapsadle and Zack Baker. Buckingham Elementary students Tija Gee, DeShauna Waters and Kelese Brittingham participate in "Relay Recess" on April 27 to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The "Relay Recess" raised over $1,800. Throughout the school year, students hold fundraisers, dress down days, and bake sales to raise money for this weekend’s Relay For Life. Buckingham has raised over $5,755 for this year's event. Submitted Photos Buckingham Elementary fourth-grade students read about coral reef habitats and the partnership that they share with many ocean animals living amongst the coral reef. Students then used different fabrics and paints to create a mural. which will be used as a display in the cafeteria.
Worcester Preparatory School inducted new members into the William E. Esham Jr. Cum Laude Society, an organization designed to honor academic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting excellence, justice, and honor. Those selected for this honor posed with Cum Laude Induction speaker Dr. Kenneth J. Smith, chair-Department of Accounting & Legal Studies, Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, Salisbury University. They were, from left, Kathryn Lawrence, Michael Durkin, Brad Mullen, Claire Stickler, Razaak Eniola, Madeline Pilchard, Scott Gee, Alissa Talbert and Lane Spangler.

Stephen Decatur High School seniors Zachary Keiser, left, and Shayne Custodio placed first in the lower Eastern Shore and in the top 2 percent in Maryland in the Stock Market Game challenge, which gives high school students from around the country the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an on-line portfolio. Keiser and Custodio made a $7,000 profit over a 10week period.
Stephen Decatur High School sophomores Rosa Celozzi and Brooke Davis test local water samples for the bacteria Enterococci in the University of Maryland Biology Laboratory bus. For several days in April, Stephen Decatur science classes had the opportunity to conduct experiments in the facility.
