EARLY CHILDHOOD
EC
the Shorecrest Early Childhood Center builds a strong foundation for
children and sets the stage for their academic career. Our hands-on program
is unique. Children discover, ask questions, and "play with a purpose." The
curriculum is well thought out to spark their love of learning.
Our Early Childhood consists of Alpha classes for children ages 3-4 and
Junior Kindergarten classes for ages 4-5. At Shorecrest, we recognize that
our families have different needs for pick-up hours based on their children
and family work schedules. As a result, we pride ourselves on our flexibility
to provide the hours that best fit a family's needs. Our day begins at 7:30
am with options for pickup as early as noon or continuing with our after-
school enrichment programs until 6:00 pm.
Our teachers have educational backgrounds and extensive experience
in Early Childhood education. Always keeping a picture of the balanced
child in mind, our teachers provide a variety of enriching hands-on
activities that facilitate personal, social and emotional, gross and fine
motor, and cognitive development. Our young students have opportunities
to participate in rich cultural events, visit our extensive library, and engage
in community service.
Physical play is critical to a child's brain development. Our youngsters
enjoy a playground specifically designed to meet their gross motor needs.
It features areas for running, climbing, digging, swinging, and socio-dramatic
play, as well as a tricycle path, and a garden planted by the children.
