MIDDLE DIVISION
MD
While continuing to build on a strong educational foundation, the Shorecrest
Middle Division provides a safe and engaging learning environment for
students in Grades 5-8. Because we recognize the uniqueness of middle division
students and understand that students closer in age are developmentally
similar, our students are separated into two facilities, with 5th and 6th grade
in the Sher Center and 7th and 8th grade in the Arts and Science Center.
These centers were designed with classrooms that facilitate the use of technology
as well as teaching methods appropriate for middle school age students.
Our Middle Division teachers are experts at working with early adolescents.
Working in grade level teams, teachers design hands-on activities, interactive
projects, and cross-curricular studies that make learning stimulating and spark
the interests of middle school students. Leadership and community service
opportunities are embedded in the program allowing students to continue to
develop their global conscience. In addition, a wide array of elective classes
and plenty of after school athletic teams and clubs allow students to embrace
new experiences. Upon finishing Middle Division, students are prepared
academically, socially, and emotionally for the challenges and
opportunities in our Upper Division.
