by Shorecrest was very important to my

me very well for college."

The Global Studies Initiative (GSI)
encourages students to accept the
challenges of global citizenship.
Through the study of world cultures
and the acquisition of advanced
language skills, students have the
option to "major" in international
studies in high school, earning a
special endorsement on their diploma.
I
All students in Upper Division participate
in Service Week, which includes a full
week of community service with local,
national and international options.
I
Each year French students travel to
our sister school in France for two
weeks and live with French families
and sightsee in Paris and Reims.
Students also may participate in
summer programs in Spain.
I
Students attend the annual Youth In
Government in the state capitol with
hundreds of high school students who
meet to adjudicate court cases and
discuss proposed legislation. Shorecrest
students have been awarded numerous
accolades including outstanding
statesmen, outstanding bill submissions,
up-and-coming attorney in the district
court, and the prestigious position of
president of the senate.
I
Each year students qualify to
participate in competitions at the
state level of history, math, science,
foreign language, band and thespians.
