G
reenport has arrived. It's no lon-
ger a little village struggling to
survive. It's now the epicenter of the
North Fork, a place most visitors make
time for on their jaunts "out East." And
Greenport has got so much going for
it! The location is stunning, right on
the waters of the Peconic Bay, and the
shopping is unique; you can buy a clam
rake, a fancy new frock, or an antique
oyster tin. Greenport is also the center
of the art scene, with galleries host-
ing lively shows where people admire
local art and spill out onto the side-
walks to sip wine and chat in the warm
evenings. And the food and wine
there's a natural synergy among the
region's fruit and vegetable farms, 30-
plus wineries, specialty food producers,
and the restaurants, food shops and
cafés of Greenport. And boating it's a
big past-time out here, and the number
of yachts and sailboats in the marina
grows each year.
We'll tell you the story about how
Greenport got here. It's been a long
road from a run-down, forgotten little
backwater to the amazing destination
it is today. And it didn't happen by ac-
cident. It took vision and a lot of hard
work.
This guide, with its comprehensive
lists of shops, restaurants, facilities,
community resources, calendar of
events and more will help you experi-
ence the best of Greenport. Whether
you are here for the day, maybe visiting
the North Fork for a wedding or a win-
ery jaunt, or whether you're here every
weekend, enjoying time with friends
and family, use this guide to make your
experience just right for you - we love
Greenport, and we want you to fall in
love with Greenport, too!
