Premiere Team Letter
The streets of Racine are filled with men in suits, women in Jackie O-inspired fashion and Pontiac
GTOs. Gas is only 65 cents per gallon. At home, people are listening to the Beatles and the Rolling
Stones on vinyl records. And on September 13, 1965 the Prairie School opened its doors to 84
students in grades 1-7, thus starting a tradition of incredible education.
We are here tonight to celebrate 50 remarkable years of The Prairie School and the students we
are so fortunate to serve. Premiere was created to raise funds for our financial assistance program
so that deserving children are able to attend a school where their talents and efforts are given
wings regardless of their economic background. It seems fitting that such a fundraiser is the
capstone event in a year-long celebration of a school whose purpose is to inspire and empower
amazing individuals.
This evening, you have the opportunity to be part of the next chapter in Prairie's story. The
auction items that surround you are ready for bids, and all funds raised tonight will directly
support our students. Play one of our popular games, purchase a few raffle tickets and know that
you are making a difference in a child's life.
Premiere would not take place without the work of dedicated volunteers. As a leadership team,
we are grateful for the countless hours our committee members gave to make phone calls, secure
donations, seek out advertisers and sponsors, and ensure that every last detail was finalized.
The list of team members is noted in the program; if you see one of these people tonight, take a
moment to celebrate with them.
Thank you for your ongoing support. The Prairie School has been shaped over the last 50 years by
people like you. Let's continue that tradition for decades to come!
