Dual Process Teaching - Basics
Duration: 6 days plus one evening * Tuition: $700
Prerequisite : Level 1
Intention: To give an experiential taste of the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy process; to explore
presence ­ with oneself, an individual and a group; to examine the difference between the
transmission of information and education; to introduce the practice of directing yoga postures.
This module will cover the following:
· Teaching methodology ­ history ­ both for YTT and for PRYT
· Centering and Integration
· Deep listening and inviting depth through embodied inquiry
· Basics of guiding postures
· Basics of assisted postures (Level 1)
· Witness consciousness and what it means to "hold space"
The Art of Sequencing
Duration: 10 days with one evening * Tuition: $1,395
Prerequisites: Dual Process Teaching - Basics; Anatomy and Physiology 1; Yoga Philosophy
Intention: To offer the experience of receiving and giving a Phoenix Rising Yoga Basics and
Intermediate class; to dive into the properties (metaphysical, physical, contraindications) of
asana; to explore the relationship between asana, pranayama and embodied self-inquiry; to
practice leading a process while facilitating the beginnings (basic and intermediate levels) of
embodied self-inquiry; to prepare student for graduating at a 200 hour level and build right
livelihood teaching basic and intermediate Phoenix Rising Yoga classes. This module will cover
the following:
· Dynamics of postures ­ anatomical and metaphysical components; intention of
posture within the PRY framework of yoga; how assisting does or doesn't fit in.
· Introduction of PRY criteria for L and I classes
· Coaching edge within the PRY framework of yoga
· Business practices of yoga
· Practice teaching
· Feedback circles
· Learning sessions ­ criteria for graduating
Yoga Teacher Training Course Descriptions
Experiential Applied Anatomy & Physiology 1
Duration: 42 hours * Tuition: $595
Anatomy and physiology are explored in relationship to yoga asana, meditation, movement,
breathing and the essence of the PRYT approach with the intention of encouraging a
multidimensional sense of wonder and curiosity about the miracle of one's body. This program
relies on the study of the best anatomy and physiology resource--your own body. Through
auditory, visual and kinesthetic learning methods, you will be able to experience your physical,
emotional and spiritual bodies through lecture, touch, play, creativity, demonstration and
questioning. Core areas of study include but are not limited to:
· Musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology, subtle anatomy and physiology of edge
· Key relationships between structures, systems and functions of the body and
anatomical alignment
· The emerging science of mind/body/spirit, change and the human body
· Considerations, cautions and contraindications of many physical conditions,
common questions and misconceptions
Applied Yoga Philosophy 1
Duration: 36 hours * Tuition: $595
An opportunity to actively explore the historical narratives that comprise the philosophy and
practices of yoga that are popular today. While the form of yoga has changed over several
centuries, its innate philosophies and teachings of self-awareness, attention and union continue
to influence our spirituality and human experience. These teachings in turn support living a life
aligned with our soul's deepest expression (svabhava). Study includes but is not limited to:
· Use of asana practice, meditation, imagery, myth, collage and story telling to illuminate
the unchanging nature of yoga, the evolution of its philosophy and the creation of
yoga dogma as is current in this culture
· Experiential study to connect you with the timelessness of yoga as a physical, spiritual
and psychological practice
· An awakened awareness of yoga's past and of the roots of your personal yoga
practice, providing a stronger foundation upon which to build your personal and
professional future
