CO N TI N UED GROWT H: T HE VA LU E OF M E M BE R SHIP uuASPS is launching a Management Services Organization (MSO) later this year aimed squarely at reducing operational costs, offering consultative support and providing capital for plastic surgery practices to expand. It will be composed of plastic surgeons gathering to work through common problems and share the costs of expensive pieces of equipment. The MSO will enable small practices - in which a majority of ASPS members practice - to survive and maintain their autonomy by offering a number of options that range from large-scale marketing efforts to outsourcing administrative tasks – thus allowing plastic surgeons to spend more time in the O.R. and consulting with new patients. uuPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open (PRS Go) offers authors an opportunity to publish high quality articles and gives the international plastic surgery community a conduit publication where research and emerging science can be shared and improved upon globally. Now, authors of articles that narrowly miss being selected for PRS will be given the option of having their work published in the open-access journal - without needing to resubmit the manuscript. Plastic Surgery Foundation and Fresh Start Surgical Gifts are working together to transform the lives of infants, children, and teens suffering from physical deformities through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related health care services. A benefit concert will be held during Plastic Surgery The Meeting in San Diego. uuThe 2 012 CO NS U ME R S NAP S H OT 14.6 million • 13 million • 1.6 million 5.6 million cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S., including surgical and minimally invasive minimally invasive cosmetic treatments performed cosmetic surgical procedures performed facial rejuvenation procedures fuel 5% growth in cosmetic plastic surgery reconstructive procedures performed breast reduction rates up 8% W W W.
