b reaST recon STruc T ion aWa r e n eSS Fu n d only 33 percent of eligible women with breast cancer undergo breast reconstruction. less than a quarter of women know the wide range of breast reconstruction options available. established in 2012, the Breast reconstruction awareness Fund plans to change these statistics by raising awareness about the options for women following mastectomy, supporting breast reconstruction organizations, and funding breast reconstruction research to ensure your patients experience the best care possible. through this effort, the pSF is making an investment in the lives of women as well as the specialty. as part of the first year of the Breast reconstruction awareness campaign, we joined forces with new orleans-based Breastoration to host “an evening with Jewel.” that one evening, coupled with the campaign, brought together companies, members, practices and universities to collectively raise more than $750,000. the outcome produced $400,000 in funding to the pSF for research involving breast reconstruction, public awareness and charity care grants; and $100,000 for Breastoration’s own local programs. breaST reconSTrucTion aWareneSS Fund SuPPorTerS Premier bronZe neon media ParTner Pa g e 9
