In 2012, the plastic Surgery Foundation awarded 28 investigator-initiated projects and allocated over $625,000 to support the newest, clinically relevant research in plastic surgery. this maintains the significant increase in pSF research funding seen for the past several years. the pSF leadership is committed to continuing to provide high levels of investigator-initiated research support to ensure that plastic surgeons have the needed resources to be pioneers and innovators in advancing the practice of medicine. through its three main funding programs, the pSF supports investigators from the beginning of their careers, during residency, through becoming well-established plastic surgeons. this year, the pSF Study Section evaluated 133 grant applications requesting a total of over $2.5 million dollars. the pSF Study Section subcommittees included: Basic and translational research, chaired by J. peter rubin, MD and Babak Mehrara, MD; Clinical research, chaired by Clara lee, MD and amy alderman, MD, Mph. granT aPPlicaTionS received by ToPic (2012)
