Casting For Cure Planned In Resort
OCEAN CITY – Think of darts, ring toss, horseshoes or corn hole using a fishing rod and a jig. Picture a set of targets made of Styrofoam noodles floating in the water. It all adds up to Ocean City’s Casting for a Cure. Hosted by Saltwater Style, Bahia Marina and Fish Tales, the event will take place on Sunday, July 21 starting at noon. This event will also coincide with Clamming for a Cure, one of Fish Tales and Bahia Marina's renowned annual fundraisers for the Steve Harman's Poor Girls Open. OC's Casting for a Cure will benefit the Steve Harman's Poor Girls Open, which is a 501-3C non-profit organization that donates all of its proceeds to the American Cancer Society. For a $5 donation, participants test their skills by casting a threeeighths-ounce jig into a cluster of rings floating in the water. They get two practice casts and three chances for points. The rings vary in size and carry different points. There will also be a bait net casting competition. The top three winners are determined by largest diameter of their casted net on pavement. Winners receive prizes, including fishing gear, T-shirts and gift certificates, which are donated by Saltwater Style, Fish Tales, Bahia Marina and other local and national businesses. The Casting Contest and Bait Net Casting Competition are open to all. Everyone is encouraged to participate and is guaranteed to have a lot of fun while raising money for a great worthwhile organization. India Bandorick, owner of Saltwater Style, will host this event for the second year.
