OCEAN CITY – Bring a blanket, beach chair or plop right down in the sand and enjoy Quiet Storm’s Surf and Skate Movies on the Beach in Ocean City on the beach downtown. Quiet Storm in collaboration with local promoter Brad Hoffman, known as B-Rad MC, are playing free surf and skate movies on the beach near North Division Street in front of Quiet Storm Surf Shop and Tony’s Pizza every Saturday night from 9-10:15 until Labor Day Weekend. An inflatable screen with a projector is set up to feature a variety of surf and skate footage. The last 15 minutes of each movie will feature a slideshow of local photographers’ own images.
“We invite everybody to come out, visiting families and local families that want to have some good fun family entertainment. Bring a blanket or some beach chairs and chill on the beach, hang out and watch some movies,” Hoffman said. “It is really cool to have some of the guys [local photographers] come out with their local images of Ocean City, whether it’s the Dew Tour that some people may not have been here for or really good waves in the wintertime. Some people don’t think we have waves like that.” Quiet Storm Manager Meredith Moore added each week a different theme of surf and skate movies will be featured, whether its footage from the Dew Tour in Ocean City, girls surf footage or old skate clips. “It is really important to support any kind of local art because it is something different and non-available anywhere else. A lot of the slide shows we are showing are from Superstorm Sandy and the Dew Tour … it helps promote what we are about all year-round and not just peak summer season,” Moore said of adding the work of local artists. This Saturday night, local photographer Bob Schaeffer will be featured, with others to follow in weeks to come. Local artists can contact Hoffman by e-mail at braddhoffman@yahoo.com if interested in having their images featured.
