Membership
Membership of the FPS has remained stable over the past
year despite the poor trading conditions. There is scope to
build our representation in Ireland further and the FPS has
managed to forge a few relationships, particularly in the
Republic of Ireland which will help to raise our profile
there.
The number and range of Associate members has
remained stable. Associate members are now represented
on Council by Chris Dalton of Loadsfortankers.com and
discussions are underway regarding how the FPS can
provide additional added value for associate members in
the future.
This year the FPS launched its Preferred
Partner scheme to alert regular members
to companies who have been valued
associates to the FPS for a number of
years and have provided key services to
the industry as well as being regular
supporters of the FPS.
FPS Council
No annual report would be possible without recognising the work put
in by the FPS Council over the past year in dealing with a number of
complex and controversial issues that have beset our sector. A special
note of thanks goes to Mr Steve Davis of Midland Fuel Oils for his
unstinting support for the FPS over the past year in the UK and Europe
as well as his drive to improve the FPS for the benefit of its members.
The FPS Council is looking to establish a
charitable trust to help those in fuel poverty
to buy heating oil in time for winter.
Expansion of Services
With the appointment of our new Technical Manager,
Tony Brown, the FPS is now able to offer an expanded
service to its membership including Depot Audits,
mini audits, DGSA, Garage and vehicle audits. Please
contact the FPS for more information. The FPS has
also taken the step to bring Driver CPC training in
house so that we can deliver the same high quality
training at both individual company level and multi-
company level through a series of regional events. We
would urge you to check out the schedules on the FPS
website to see which suit you best and to appreciate
the financial savings which may be made.
The FPS has also been deeply involved in the
development of the Petroleum Drivers' Passport (PDP)
which seeks to bring together all the requirements
for tanker drivers in an industry-led driver standard.
Development is still on-going so we will keep you
informed of progress.
FPS EXPO
FPS EXPO
2013 was another very successful
event for the FPS with a full
exhibition and good delegate
numbers. Further details are on
view throughout this issue of
Downstream.
Regional Meetings
The FPS regional structure is
improving and the number of
regional meetings increased during
the year. There are still some regions
where meetings are infrequent and
where the FPS is keen to restart
them.
