The Oil Care Campaign used FPS EXPO to unveil a
range of sponsorship opportunities which companies can
take up to promote their support for responsible use of
oil. The sponsorships will help Oil Care Campaign to
develop its programmes to encourage good practice in
storage, transport and recovery of oils. Sponsors can
expect to use some OCC brandings across a range of
marketing materials. Anyone interested in talking about
sponsorship should call Liz Hobday at the Environment
Agency on 0121 708 4661 or email

Oil Tank Supplies launched the OTS Fuel Control
System, a touchscreen management panel displaying
wide-ranging data on stored fuel status. In addition to
contents, the system provides automated stock
reconciliation with alarms management and information
display, ullage temperature and water contamination
alerts. Data is streamed via the web with SMS and email
alerts.

First-time exhibitor Purdie Dished Ends drew interest
with the spectacular large metal dish. If not displayed on
its stand, the dish would have formed the back end of a
tanker and the company made some good contacts at
the EXPO. The company's dished ends also form the
distinctive cladding on the new Birmingham Bull Ring.

Sentinel Systems debuted its Bike Hotsport System, a
new safety system to prevent accidents involving cyclists.
Four bike hotspots are positioned on the nearside of the
vehicle. If a cyclist is too close, the rider hears a warning
from the tanker `too close, keep clear'. A buzzer in the
cab also alerts the driver.

SGS UK Ltd showed SGS Bug Test, a simple-to-use, on-
site kit that detects microbial contamination of fuels,
giving early warning of poor quality or degradation
during storage. Bug Test indicates the presence and
severity of four key microbial types: aerobic bacteria,
yeasts and moulds, fuel degraders and sulphate
reducers.

Valero Energy used FPS EXPO to trumpet some
significant growth. Its upgraded Manchester terminal is
being re-opened to improve its service to the North
West. The re-opening of the mainline pipeline from
Seisdon to Manchester means product can be sent
directly from Valero's Pembroke refinery (the subject of a
near-£80m investment) to its Manchester terminal,
allowing a continuous and reliable supply. Storage at its
Cardiff terminal has more than doubled kerosene
storage to over 10kmt. Plans are in hand to increase
storage at Kingsbury to improve supply. With seven fuel
terminals, major ownership interests in four major
pipelines and additional supply arrangements from key
third-party terminals, Valero is a major force in UK fuel
supply.

Can I firstly say what a
great job you and your
team did this year again
at the FPS Show in
Harrogate. We were
happy to be involved,
and being the only plastic tank
manufacturer supporting the event,
we had some really positive feedback,
which we expect to turn into new
business over the coming months.
