The Pet.Reg. industry's best selling 6x2 tractor unit, MAN
Truck and Bus's TGS 24.440 6x2, was the centrepiece of
the MAN stand courtesy of Wincanton on its Valero
contract. Hoyer has ordered over 150 new TGS 6x2
tractors, all with full Safe Load Pass specification. This
latest order brings Hoyer's total MAN fleet to over 250
units. All come with full R&M packages serviced and
maintained through MAN's UK-wide HazMAN network
of 21 dedicated Pet.Reg Truck Centres. Suttons has
ordered 11 TGS 24.440s for its Rontec (Total) contract.
Suckling Transport has committed to another 30 new
TGS 6x2 tractors for 2013 ahead of the Euro 6 deadline
in October. Tesco is taking a programmed delivery of 40
TGS 24.440 6x2 tractors. Outside the halls, in the colours
of WCF Fuels, was
MAN's TGM rigid
6x2 26 tonner,
supplied with an
18,500-litre
capacity, five-
compartment
aluminium tank
from Road
Tankers Northern,
and constructed to EN 13094 ADR specification. The
vehicle carries a cab-controlled rear-view camera from
Vehicle Proximity Cameras. It swivels to give two views
and when not in use turns towards the vehicle to protect
its lens from dirt. It is the first of its type in Britain.

Mechtronic showcased its metered uplift mechanism.
Using an additional manifold section dedicated to uplift,
the inlet
flange
supports
pipework
terminating on
the chassis side
with a
connection to
suit the
operator. The
control cabinet
compartment
selector
incorporates
the uplift option for speed of operation. An unmetered
version of the system is also available. Mechtronic also
demonstrated its unique VisiLevel system that provides
compartment volume measurement at a glance in
graphic form on screen while eliminating the need to
dip from the tank top. VisiLevel provides stock security
by recording all product movements, and after its success
in the UK, Mechtronic intends rolling it out in export
target markets. Mechtronic announced that it now has
nine regionally based engineers in the UK to provide
user support services ranging from roadside assistance to
planned service contracts.
