FPS Awards Dinner
Mark Nolan of Nolan Oils, Oxfordshire, the incoming FPS
President, urged diners at the FPS Awards Dinner to get
actively involved with FPS to ensure that changes for the
good of industry will be made to happen.
"The FPS Council members spend an awful lot of time discussing
the rights and wrongs of the industry and knocking on the
doors of those who can make the changes we see as necessary.
It is with this in mind, we must keep the Federation the thriving
organisation it is today, we welcome new members and look
forward to seeing you at our future meetings," he said.
Reviewing progress
during the past year,
Mark said that
following legal
consultations, FPS was
likely to publish the
industry Code of
Practice very shortly. FPS
was also working more
closely with the
standards body OFTEC,
a policy he felt would
benefit both
organisations. He
pointed to the joint
FPS-OFTEC Oilsave campaign and website (www.oilsave.org.uk)
to promote the wise use of oil for heating and cooking as a
direct positive result.
Mark praised the Surviving Winter Campaign, the fuel poverty
alleviation charity set up by outgoing FPS president Steve Davis
(Midland Fuel Oil Supplies) and the West Midlands Petroleum
Distributors' Association. "This is aimed at providing financial
aid to those customers who most need it at a time of year when
they need help. Please join your fellow members and make a
contribution," he urged.
He thanked key FPS EXPO and awards sponsors Adler & Allan,
Fuel Prices Online, OAMPS, Phillips 66, QBE and Reynolds Trade
Credit and all the EXPO exhibitors, as well as FPS CEO Mark
Askew and EXPO Organiser Vanessa Cook. She received a floral
bouquet to mark her final EXPO and Dinner. She leaves in the
summer after 15 years at the helm of an event she has
developed beyond recognition. FPS is now busy ensuring a
smooth organisational transition for FPS EXPO 2014.
