My Years with contact with CEO and share their ten years’ experience with Hape at “the Tenth Anniversary”. Hape Sensations There are two decades before 20-years old and two after 70-years old. Yet the most powerful and fruitful life period is only 5 decades. Every Haper who have spent this wonderful one-fifth of his life together with Hape gets to have a close Today, Hape Holding Group has more than one thousand employees worldwide, of which nearly 300 staff have worked for (Photographer: Fox Li, Echo Du) Hape over ten years. 1987 Renate Gies (admin director of Hape International AG, joined Hape 26 years ago): February 1, 1987 was the first day I joined Hape. At that time, our founder Peter Handstein, the young casting mold designer, started to hand-make wooden toys in his hometown Hessen, Germany. He began to provide teaching aids for preschool education, and then embarked on toy research and development. Soon after our first office opened in Groß Eichen and this was our very first company, Handstein Peter Kindergarten Service. Eight years later, in 1995, Hape started reaching out overseas. 18 years later the Hape group has experienced overwhelming expansion and launched a series of subsidiaries in China, Canada, (China) Hong Kong, Italy, Romania and France. These were founded successively and Hape came to become a real “world citizen” and a global holding group. I’m very proud that I’m still here to strive for a brighter future. 1996 Yanhong Chen (financial manager of Hape International Ningbo, joined Hape 17 years ago): I have had the honor to work with Mr. Peter Handstein since the first year he came to China, and have witnessed every footstep of Hape’s development in China. From the 5 million (RMB) sales volume the first year to the billion business today; from the OEM, ODM service developing into a high-end independent global brand, Hape makes its every step steadily. It has a corporate culture of both sober Germanism and detail-oriented Chinese characteristics. 2003 Nengyou Wu (assembling workshop team leader of Hape International Ningbo, joined Hape 10 years ago): I have been working with Hape for ten years. Every time I came back home, I tell my parents that I have a nice foreign boss. They are eager to know what he looks like. Here you see a dear picture of two men holding hands with tears in their eyes. 2005 Robin Lehnert (marketing manager of Hape North America, joined Hape 8 years ago): Since 2004, I have worked for Hape as a marketing consultant on a part time basis, then one year later I came onboard full time as the Marketing Manager. I love the values that Hape offers to parents and young children. I appreciate that there is an incredible drive to not just create a toy, but the best one available. This comes from a multinational perspective that no other company can match. 9
