From the Section Director Dennis Kelleher Section Director M y term as Director for the New York Section ends in June at ACE13 in Denver. The three years as Director have provided me an excellent opportunity to represent the New York Section on the Association Board of Directors. I also have had the opportunity to work closely with the Association staff in Denver. With over 130 employees, AWWA is an excellent resource for our Section, as well as for our individual members. Should you ever have any questions concerning AWWA or have a technical water supply question, feel free to contact the AWWA office in Denver. The professional staff is there to assist all members, and they are always more than happy to help. During the past two years, I have also had the privilege of representing AWWA in the position of Vice President. As Vice President, I had the opportunity of visit- ing numerous Sections across North America. During my visits I was able to “steal” great ideas and bring them back to the New York Section. One thing I have learned is that Water People across the country are some of the most dedicated professionals I have ever met. In June, Connie Schreppel will replace me as the New York Director. I wish her luck over the next three years and know she will do a great job! My final comment as Director is to encourage each AWWA member to get involved in the organization. Consider volunteering for a Section or Association committee. If you are already volunteering, consider taking on a leadership role. Become a Chair of a committee or volunteer to be a Board Member. We are always looking for new members to get involved.
