Update: New York Section’s 100th Anniversary The Road to Rochester by Amanda Bauner 100th Anniversary Committee Chair ur 100th Anniversary event is only a year away! Please plan to join us, May 13-15, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Rochester and the Rochester Convention Center for this historic event. As we finalize our plans over this next year, please consider volunteering as a part of our 100th Anniversary Committee. Contact Amanda Bauner at abauner@greeley-hansen.com for more information. Many thanks to our generous donors for this year’s silent and ticket auction held on April 17th, where we raised $2,500 to offset costs for our 100th Anniversary event and celebration. We have a confirmed keynote speaker for our opening session next year. Dr. Michael McGuire is the author of “The Chlorine Revolution: Water Disinfection and the Fight to Save Lives.” We are looking into possibly adding one more keynote speaker. Our call for papers will O soon be finalized, so look for that to come out later this summer. We are also working to offer attendees a tour of a nearby water treatment plant. Our Exhibit Hall next year will feature the Water Museum to showcase historical water artifacts. We are still looking for more historical equipment, as well as historical photos. Please contact Dan Reed if you have any equipment to lend to this. Next year’s celebration, to be held on May 13, 2014, is not to be missed. We are finalizing the musical entertainment. Most awards will be handed out at other sessions, so we can focus on mingling and celebrating with each other this wonderful milestone. Every 100th Anniversary attendee will receive with registration a historical Aquarius. We have received several historical photos so far, but we are always looking for more! If you have historical water information or photos, please contact John Frazer. In case you missed the April 2013 Water Event in Saratoga Springs, each attendee received a special 100th Anniversary calendar featuring New York State’s historical water landmarks. Please contact the Section office if interested in purchasing a calendar. 10 SPRING/SUMMER 2013 AqUARIUS
