2013 NYC Watershed/Tifft Science and Technical Symposium by Patricia Cerro-Reehil September 18-19, 2013 Hotel Thayer, West Point, NY M ark your calendar and join your colleagues at the 2013 NYC Watershed/Tifft Science and Technical Symposium, September 18-19, 2013 at the Hotel Thayer on the campus of the West Point Military Academy, in West Point, NY. The New York Section American Water Works Association is partnering with the New York Water Environment Association, the Watershed Protection and Partnership Council, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the NYS Department of State to hold the 2013 NYC Watershed/Tifft Science and Technical Symposium. This two-day technical symposium will bring together members from both NYWEA and NYSAWWA, as well as watershed stakeholders from across the state. We believe this jointly sponsored event will result in a broader watershed conference that blends drinking water and clean water issues that affect the NYC watershed, as well as watersheds across the state. There will be space for 35 exhibits, along with unique sponsorship and advertising opportunities. Supporting this event will give your company access to a large gathering of water and wastewater professionals. For more information please visit www.NYSAWWA.org or the www.nywea.org. Spouse Program Returns! by Mindy Seaver lease invite your spouse or significant other to join you for our Spring 2014 Conference in Rochester! There will be daytime activities planned for Tuesday, May 13th and Wednesday, May 14th, as well as the 100th Anniversary Celebration which will take place on Tuesday night. We plan to visit Casa Larga winery on Tuesday for a tour and tasting, followed by a stop in Pittsford, where we will have a choice of either some casual dining and shopping or a boat cruise tour on the Erie Canal, complete with a trip through the locks. On Wednesday, we will enjoy Rochester’s famous Lilac festival. We are also looking into spa and museum options for Wednesday. Of course, on Tuesday evening, the big 100th Anniversary Celebration will be held in the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom. The speeches will be kept to a minimum for this event and high top tables will be set up to promote mingling as we enjoy food, drink, and live entertainment! On Wednesday evening, we’re hoping the Red Wings baseball team will have a home game in Frontier Field so we can get a group together to attend that as well! Details regarding sign up and payment for spouse activities will be included in the conference program, to be distributed early next year. Please make sure your spouse has the dates on his or her calendar. We’re so excited to expand the NYSAWWA family by including our members’ loved ones in the festivities!
