SKACEL: How has living in Iceland affected your color sense?
RODRIGO: My color sense has been hugely affected both by Iceland and by working with yarn. I come from Santiago de
Chile which is surrounded by very tall mountains. Everything is mostly gray. Reykjavík is exactly the opposite of that;
full of colors everywhere you look.
Nature here has had a huge impact in my perception of colors. There are crazy contrasts: black, red, yellow beaches, the
greenest moss and grass I have ever seen, crazy skies, northern lights. The list is endless. Before I started working with
yarn I never thought about colors. Now that I work with yarn almost daily, I am more aware of color; and how to put
them together.
SKACEL: How do you feel about crafting for the home?
RODRIGO: That is something that I started very recently. I really like the feel handmade things give to the home. They
are warm, cozy, and unique. It's satisfying to look at them and think "I made this!" When it comes to making things, I
usually just go for it and work it out as I go.
