This year feel younger!
Every year, we all set the usual New Year's resolution of losing
weight. This year, why not try something new. What can you
do NOW to be fi t, and to look and feel younger in 2013?
Even if you don't have access to a gym or personal trainer,
there are many activities you can do to work
towards that
goal. Here are a few examples that are easy to accomplish
anywhere, even away from home. Set yourself some realistic
goals, aimed at ensuring you live longer rather than just focus-
ing on weight loss, and don't be afraid to try new things to
reach those objectives.
Since it's cold outside, swimming indoors is a good activity to
try. It puts little pressure on the joints and is a lot of fun. Go
for a walk outdoors; while you are enjoying what nature has
to offer, you won't even notice that you have just had a good
workout! Try to include some fl exibility exercises; improving
your fl exibility will help decrease back and joint pain and
reduce the risk of injuries.
3 exercises to include
in your routine:
Basic push-ups:
These will help with overall strength, while
working on your biceps, shoulders, chest and lower back.
Child's Pose (Balasana)
: On your knees, fold your body over it-
self onto a ball, resting your arms at your sides. Hold this pose
for 3 to 5 min. This yoga position allows you to stretch your
spine, and as you breathe makes you feel calm and relaxed.
The added bonus is that you will work on your fl exibility!
Holding the plank for one minute:
This exercise will help de-
velop your core strength and of course, your abs.
Combining a healthy diet with overall fi tness is a great way
to get you looking younger, for a long time, starting today!
